If you thought that Acme was done with convention season, you’re wrong! This weekend, Stephen and Jermaine will travel to the Baltimore Comic Con to work on customer want lists and to seal a few deals for future Acme Wave Projector podcast guests as well as in-store signings. There is one living legend of the industry that we have our eye on and many of you have told us creators you would love to meet in person. And we have listened, so cross your fingers!
And now…
TH3RDWORLD STUDIOS & Acme Comics presents:
ACME EXCLUSIVE
INTREPID ESCAPEGOAT
VARIANT COVER

Acme Comics has been a trusted ally to Brian Smith of The Stuff of Legend and The Basics for years now and you have seen him many times in this very store! We are very happy to support our pal Smitty as he continues the Free Comic Book Day blockbuster, the Intrepid Escapegoat, in monthly issue form with our very own exclusive Acme Comics variant edition! We are literally the one and only store in the world that has this very special version of Intrepid Escapegoat #1.
You’re asking yourself, “What sets this cover apart from the other Acme variants like Godzilla and Amazing Spider-man?” Not only does this one feature the ol’ Acmebat getting the drop on Tom Fleet and Isis. But this variant editon features a exclusive strip written by our very own Lord Retail, Jermaine Exum! Though he has appeared as a character in Ultimate Spider-man #86*, this is Jermaine’s very first published story and creator credit!
“Selling comics is one thing, but thinking that you can make on is a whole other thing. I had to draw upon everything I know about sequential storytelling to come up with an idea and then boil it down to fit in a finite space. You can judge if it makes sense or not for yourselves! The main issue by Smitty is fantastic with textbook sequential art, crisp colors, and is perfect for readers of any age to enjoy.” - Jermaine
Copies of Intrepid Escapegoat #1 Acme Comics variant edition will be in the shop soon and you are welcome to reserve a copy with us. Just email us back at acmelwn@bellsouth.net and we will secure the issue for you!
If you missed it, we have a limited number of the FCBD edition of issue #1 still available. Smitty will be making a trip down here in late September, with details of that signing being firmed up in Charm City this weekend!
*In an unrelated story, Ultimate Comics X-men #1 by Nick Spencer will be on shelves soon and is up for subscriptions right now!

The profile of the Acmewave Projector Podcast is steadily on the rise. You heard from Brian Michael Bendis two episodes ago and this Friday we will post our session with Jonathan Hickman! He’ll talk with us about Red Wing, the future of the Future Foundation, and his new creator-owned title, Feel Better Now.
You can listen on your Apple devices while you work out or drive to work by searching for “Acmecast” on iTunes or you can listen directly from the internet by visiting Acme Wave Projector.com. That is where we give our true opinions on storylines and release information about upcoming Acme Initiatives first! And don’t be afraid to listen to an older episode either as you never know what you’ll hear!
